This is a project from my graphic design course. The first four were made with Photoshop. The last five were made in Illustrator.
Photoshop
The 180 mosaic was created by adding a grid to the original image and using transform to rotate each square. I used an action to record the first rotation of one square. Then, I applied this action to the most of my squares. For the high contrast image, I used the dodge and burn tools on light and dark areas, respectively. The full mosaic was done by using Filter – Pixelate – Mosaic and then choosing a cell size.
Illustrator
I created the coloring book photo mainly with the pen tool. I drew out as many objects in the pictures as possible. Then I added each object to its own layer. I made the stroke black and the fill white to create an outline of the focus points of the photo. For the color by numbers photo, I mixed three shades of gray in CMYK mode. Each shade was created by setting the value for K as 25%, 50%, and 75%, respectively. Then, I applied each one to any area that closely matched that particular gray. Geometric extraction was done by drawing different geometric shapes and applying the shades of gray I created for the color by numbers photo. The silhouette using clipping mask was made with the pen tool. I drew out the shape of the horse and then applied a clipping mask. The silhouette with a symbol was done in a similar fashion However, I chose another image, used the pen tool to cut out the outline of it and used this outline for my clipping mask.
